Watched this film the other day with some good friends. It is a magnificent film about the environment that puts things into perspective. I was commenting to my friend Carolyn that this movie makes the 2012 predictions seem it is a much needed reset button for our planet. Here are some of the most impacting statements this movie declares:
1. 20% of the world's population consumes 80% of its resources.
2. The world spends 12 times more on military expenditures than on aid to developing countries.
3. 5,000 people a day die because of dirty drinking water, 1 billion people have no access to safe drinking
water.
4. 1 billion people are going hungry
5. Over 50% of the grain traded around the world is used for animal feed or biofuels.
6. 40% of arable land has suffered long term damage.
7. Every year 13 millions hectares of forests disappear.
Here is the website on how we can contribute and help.
